To me, an oracle is someone who has special knowledge or experience. In this piece, the oracle is a spaceship mechanic who is interrupted from her work by a small child with a broken robot. I wanted to channel the feeling of an exasperated parent who loves her child but just can't understand why or how he keeps breaking things. When I was facing housing insecurity, I couldn’t believe something like that could happen to me in my own home. I questioned what it meant to have a place to rest, a place to belong. I longed to return to a place I couldn’t go back to—my old life. With time, and the support of my dear friends and loved ones, I came to a necessary realization, I already am home.
