Despite being a visitor, in the rain I felt an unexpected sense of home. Across the globe, we all share the feeling of cold drops on our skin, with wet strands of hair glued to our faces, speed-walking to our destinations. I noticed in the rain, people tend to be more gracious towards strangers—holding doors, sharing smiles, offering a nod, acknowledging the universal sensation of rain washing over us. The animals, locals, and tourists alike seek refuge from the storm, and as such, the downpour unites us.
