The palatial Peterhof or Petrodvorets, Peter's favorite home, was 30 versts or about 20 miles from the old St. Petersburg. Was it indeed still part of larger Petersburg today? We discovered that although it's still outside the city limits, the palace complexes (Peterhof, Lomonosov, Gatchina, Tsarskoe Selo) to the south of the city are associated with St. Petersburg as architectural objects in the city itself, as much as Polish king Jan Sobieski's summer residence, Wilanow, has always been associated with Warsaw, in its day well outside the Warsaw city limits. From various forms and contrasting size proportions, the presence of balance showcases a symphony of shapes. The enlarged snake-head poking from the right side creates a progression of patterns, repetition, and balance with the other geometric and organic shape. Together, the position less forms float around in different areas, but create a harmonic movement of an actual snake gliding through the frame. The choice of the snake's appearance involves an abstract perspective with the tails swirl and whole body curved in no clear direction.
