Sweetgrass basketry has been a tradition there for almost four centuries and is now a dying artform as many young people are not learning the craft. I began learning the craft both out of a love for the area and history and because I have always loved the baskets sold across the city and hearing the stories of those who make them. This work is about that familiar feeling that people can get when viewing photographs. It can remind them of their own childhood or favorite memories. In this work, I increased the shutter speed to capture the swings in motion. I also used the view camera's ability to have a soft outer focus around the subject to help convey the memory aspect of this image. I want viewers to feel like this photograph is a memory that they once had as a child.
