A loose menagerie of aquatic and surrealist imagery illustrated over the course of 10 months. None of the artwork was preplanned; I would freely add/modify the composition until the canvas seemed full enough.
I painted this tree on campus at KU. Behind the tree is the Spencer Library. I liked how the tree was in shadow against the bright, warm wall of the building.
I completed this work in the field. I use nature as my main source of inspiration and I try to capture what is in front of me. I'm inspired by artists like Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, who painted the landscape so well.
