In this piece, I address the depths of despair experienced during the depression stage of grief. Through the solitary tear streaming down the subject's face, I capture the overwhelming sense of sadness and emptiness that can consume individuals during loss. The somber color palette and subdued tones reflect the heaviness of heart and soul, as the figure grapples with the weight of their emotions. The downcast gaze and downturned lips convey a sense of resignation and hopelessness, as the individual navigates the dark and isolating terrain of depression. Through this painting, I aim to create a portrayal of the internal struggles faced by those experiencing grief-induced depression. By giving visual form to these complex emotions, I hope to foster empathy and understanding, while also offering a sense of solace and validation to those who may be grappling with similar feelings of desolation.
