Flower Eye Spider

Flower Eye Spider
Subject

Description
I like to imagine that there are little flower creatures disguised as wildflowers running around in grassy fields. They could be seeing eye pets for fairies or the watchers of nature. As a child, my mind was fantastical, and in my work, I enjoyed tapping into that time of my life in order to keep it alive in my adult world. Utilizing the cloisonne technique and transparent enamel, I created the flower eye spider and fabricated my first-ever enamel housing depicting an eye with dangling tears representing the struggle of growing up with those childlike ideals still showing in the mind’s eye.
