Ovid's tale of Procne and Philomela explores love and revenge as it portrays the lengths a woman would go for her sister. As a woman with two sisters, I could deeply relate to Procne’s protective nature over Philomela. I was amazed that I could resonate with a piece of literature so intensely, especially one written thousands of years ago. Knowing that an ancient text could transcend time and that a modern reader could relate to it made me realize the importance of literature in understanding human nature.
