“Venus” references the Venus Pudica pose from classical and baroque art, historically used to convey modesty and desire while highlighting the female form. I have adapted this pose to examine top surgery scars, presenting the trans body in a positive light by drawing a parallel to a classical goddess, especially one of love, to challenge the stigma that trans people inherently hate their bodies.
