I have adapted this pose to examine top surgery scars, presenting the trans body in a positive light by drawing a parallel to a classical goddess, especially one of love, to challenge the stigma that trans people inherently hate their bodies. Title A name given to the resource Ultimate Warrior Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2025 Description An account of the resource This oil gilded egg tempera painting features the popular pro-wrestler of the 80s and 90s, The Ultimate Warrior. What drew me to this character and subject matter was his anatomy, costume, and electric stage presence. One of the things I find most interesting about the phenomenon of pro-wrestling is the combination of hyper-masculinity and flamboyance, and I thought the bulging muscles next to the flying tassels truly embodied that. The gilding reinforces this idea as well, using a bit of sparkle to evoke the glitz and glamour of the WWF. I also found the contrast between an old, classical material and a very modern subject matter compelling. It's interesting to consider what some of the old masters would have thought of this artwork, or even the concept of pro-wrestling. As a woman with two sisters, I could deeply relate to Procne’s protective nature over Philomela. I was amazed that I could resonate with a piece of literature so intensely, especially one written thousands of years ago. Knowing that an ancient text could transcend time and that a modern reader could relate to it made me realize the importance of literature in understanding human nature.
