Title A name given to the resource External Bifurcation Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2024 Description An account of the resource Oftentimes I have to monitor my actions so that I can fall in line with social expectations externally, this behavior is commonly referred to as masking. I represented these expectations through my image of two halves of a doll. Like a mask, the outer shell can be taken off, it symbolizes the performative nature of what women are expected to behave and look like. The more mechanical, robotic, inner workings of the doll ironically represent freedom, liberation from what you should act and look like. The flowing tendrils of hair show how energetic and free the being is without its outer shell restricting it. The heart-like organ represents its soul but also shows how vulnerable it is without its shell. Title A name given to the resource Eye of the Beast Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2023 Description An account of the resource "Eye of the Beast" plays upon a non-representational, abstract frame referencing my Jack Russell terrier. Presenting the head itself displays a sense of drama with the viewer only seeing from the perspective of the headless dog. The rest of the scattered shapes are from the body of the animal, but close into the head as if it was a source of light. The saturated colors make the eyes pupil clear with showcasing it's direction to the far left, staring off from the viewer's presence. This represents how our companions can vision their own world differently than we do and reaching to expand upon that worldview.
