Sweetgrass basketry has been a tradition there for almost four centuries and is now a dying artform as many young people are not learning the craft. I began learning the craft both out of a love for the area and history and because I have always loved the baskets sold across the city and hearing the stories of those who make them. Sewing sweetgrass baskets is now a part of my history and I hope I can help keep this craft alive and thriving. Title A name given to the resource Aztec Afterlife Flight Attendant Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2025 Description An account of the resource For this piece, I created an inventory for a character I made up based around Aztec mythology. This character is a flight attendant, bringing souls to the afterlife in the Sun. I was inspired by the gods Huitzilopochtli (hummingbird) and Quetzalcoatl (feathered serpent), who both are gods of the sun and afterlife. Throughout the designs of the objects, I have included symbols and imagery from Aztec mythology and culture; reincarnation into hummingbirds, traditional foods and drinks, clothing and patterns, and style of rendering.
