Title A name given to the resource dyslexia Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2024 Description An account of the resource In 'dylsexia,' I aim to capture the silent struggle of children grappling with dyslexia, especially before diagnosis when their difficulties in learning to read may be misunderstood or overlooked. The young girl is depicted with her eyes obscured by a cloth, symbolizing the confusion and frustration that often accompanies undiagnosed dyslexia. Surrounding her are "jumbled words", representing the chaotic landscape of letters and sounds that blur and shift for those with dyslexia. These serve as a visual metaphor for the obstacles that dyslexic individuals encounter in traditional educational settings, where written words dominate as the primary means of communication and learning. By bringing attention to the experiences of those with dyslexia through my artwork, I hope to raise awareness and understanding for individuals who navigate a world where language can be a barrier. It serves as a reminder that every child's journey to literacy is unique and that support and accommodations are essential in unlocking their full potential. To the average person, a meal is not worth noting because it happens so routinely in life, but it is the experience and feeling associated that makes the meal worth remembering. Petit-Déjeuner depicts the essence of a simple breakfast, but it is the grandeur of the place it was eaten to make the experience savored and something to reflect on. Title A name given to the resource Under the Dome Subject The topic of the resource LibArt 2024 Description An account of the resource Under the dome depicts a lady viewing the botanical garden and glass house under the center of the building. She remains unmoving because people in the natural world are so busy with their events in life that it remains difficult for them to stop and admire the experiences in life. The lady wears a ball gown inspired not by modern fashion, but what makes her feel beautiful. Under the dome is representative of owning one’s life and living it care free and the way people want to live without everyday events clouding their will to live freely. Under an aclove on Bethesda Terrace, I hide behind a column to watch a musician perform. I was inspired by “being in the moment” when creating this piece because like art, music is an escape for the mind to roam freely to let oneself feel meaning. The instrument used shows how music can have no words but it is the melody that captivates our attention.
