The intersection covering the face was a stop on my daily commute to school, symbolic of feeling stuck in the same routine with no inclination of change. There’s also a high level of helplessness in the contrast between the landscape and the portrait, emphasized through the desaturation of the face and brightness of the lights against the pavement. There's many subtle symbolic meanings within the scene, all intentionally creating the mood I was feeling in that moment.
