Summerfield Bombing

At 11:00 p.m. on December 11, 1970, a bomb exploded in the KU Computation Center in Summerfield Hall, injuring three students and causing extensive damange next to the main computer room. After the fire at the Union in the spring, the events of the summer of 1970, and months of reports of fire and vandalism, it was yet another incident during a long, tense year at the University. Summerfield Hall was repaired the following summer and, after an invetigation by the FBI, it was never determined who bombed the building.
