Hummingbirds have always been one of my favorite animals because their return shows the true start of Spring. Photographing them is a fun challenge because they usually only stay still for a second or two before they are gone.

This painting is a part of a triptych of larger paintings I am working on of my cat in a hat. The completed triptych will have The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. I was inspired by the work of Harlem Renaissance artist Aaron Douglas.
