Title

Dyche Alaskan expedition glass lantern slide

Description

He delivered lectures for 6 months across Kansas describing his Arctic adventures upon his return from Alaska. He went to Alaska in June 1896 through October to hunt white Dall sheep to bring back as specimens for the Natural History Museum on campus. The Dashing Kansan describes this trip, including his meeting with and picture of Princess Tom.

The lectures were illustrated by “magic lantern slides”, the glass plate slides he had taken on his Arctic adventures. He hand-tinted the black and white images to produce a colorful effect.
