Description
Walking through the whimsical garden of Quigley’s Castle in Eureka Springs, AR, this strangely shaped bloom caught my eye. For years I was unaware this flower was what is more commonly known as the Tiger Lily. It just seemed alien-like compared to most, and I fondly referred to it as my "pumpkin flower" photo. The shape of the petals reminded me of a hot air balloon, suspending the hanging stamens. Yet, the stamens seemed to be crawling in active search for their next pollinator. Making it seem eerily sentient.
