This painting is a part of a triptych of larger paintings I am working on of my cat in a hat. The completed triptych will have The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. I was inspired by the work of Harlem Renaissance artist Aaron Douglas.

This work focused on experimenting with expressionism as far as mark making and color. I also used a color palette similar to that seen in several of Van Gogh's expressionist pieces.
