Beloved teacher and renowned scientist, Francis H. Snow rose from the ranks of the faculty and was chosen as the fifth chancellor. During his tenure from 1890 to 1901, the University reorganized, the endowment was association was created, the first doctoral degree was awarded, and the first intercollegiate football game was held.
