Sharon Drysdale
Sharon Drysdale, a Hope Teaching Award nominee, taught in the Women’s Physical Education Department and served as the women’s athletic director from 1972-1974. She also coached the basketball (1973), field hockey (1972-1973), tennis (1972-1973) and softball (1973-1976) teams. Softball is where Drysdale made her mark. She retired as the softball head coach of Northwestern University in 2001 to establish the coaching certification school for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Drysdale was inducted into the NFCA Hall of fame in 1994 and the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.
