Description
This piece represents the cliché of “Crocodile Tears”, which means to cry tears of sorrow that aren’t sincere. The origin of this phrase comes from the 16th century idea that crocodiles wept while they consumed their prey. With this in mind. I decided to play on the idea of how beings consume and what makes a person weep when they themselves have not faced hardship. Featured in my work is an elderly crocodile who is weeping at two of her prey in a love she is not a part of on her television. She sobs uncontrollably for a fictional situation where she’s only an observer.
